  • The exchange on h8 at 15.Rxh8+ opens lines against Black's king and tests Black's coordination.

  • Castle with 11.O-O-O, then bring the knight to a4 to target c5 and support active piece play.

  • Use 14.Bc3 to develop with tempo against the bishop on g4 before 15.Rxh8+.

  • Do not play 13.hxg5 without calculating Black's recapture and the resulting open h-file.
  • Do not exchange on h8 at 15.Rxh8+ without using the check to gain time for further activity.
